According to the European Medicines Agency (EMA) and the ESCOP, it is indicated for the symptomatic treatment of mouth and throat inflammation, such as stomatitis , gingivitis and pharyngitis. In addition, the EMA contemplates the use of salvia leaf preparations in the symptomatic treatment of mild digestive disorders such as heartburn or bloating and in the case of small skin inflammations.
Human studies also show effects of salvia leaves in improving cognitive function and mood.
