Soy isoflavones are used for the prevention and treatment of symptoms associated with female menopause (hot flashes, preventing osteoporosis, arteriosclerosis and postmenopausal coronary heart diseases).
Soybean extracts are rich in isoflavones. This fraction interacts with estrogen receptors and results in weaker estrogenic effects, inhibition of bone resorption and effects on different cardiovascular risk factors. Some studies have also associated soy isoflavones with improved memory, mental alertness, attention and mood, as well as vaginal dryness.
